The main problem is that about 30 seconds or after logging into windows, my computer black screens

backstory: I had just played a pretty long gaming session and went back to desktop, on the screen switch there looks like a lot of artifacts, I opened chrome and what looked like artifacts were flashing a lot on the screen, my GPU was also showing via color(it's a r9 290 vapor-x) that it was a lot hotter than it was.

I rebooted, then it black screens shortly after. I have also tested by removing the graphics card, what happened was that by running off the APU there was no black screen, I Tried rebooting again with GPU but it still black screened. The GPU was over clocked before but for the past week it hasn't been because I was planning to redo the overclock and finetune it.

Edit: it can't be woken up and the keyboard led goes off

Edit: it's on windows 7, and the GPU's temps were pretty low, barely reaching into the 80 to 85 range. Could it just have fried itself? Also if fried what's the rma for it and is servicing an option?

Solution
Sounds like the issue is the GPU from the fact that you mentioned it worked fine without the card in it and then you had the black screen when you placed the GPU back in the PC.

Have you done any testing on the GPU to see what kind of heat readings your getting when the PC is running? It's possible as well some of the Thermal Paste has come off the processor in the GPU. None the less, the issue is the GPU my friend.

You need to have decent air flow and may possibly need to look into liquid cooling.

The GPU was running cool beforehand and the case has decent airflow, so I don't think overheating burned it out, but I haven't heard of the thermal paste coming off like that, is there a way to check with out voiding warranty?

Unfortunately no, it involves disassembling the card to get to the processor.
