Drivers always fail?

I just done a fresh install of windows vista 32 bit home premium using the re-install disc that came with the notebook, which is by the way a DELL Studio 1735. After this i had no networking capabilities which i expected. So i went in order trying to install chip set, then security then audio and video. These all installed fine from DELL's website. I then installed the Ethernet driver successfully. However when i tried to install the WiFi driver it doesn't work. I download it and run the .exe file. This unpacks it and then (sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't) shows an install pop-up. Acting as if it was getting ready to install asking to please wait. However after a few seconds this disappears. Ive tried launching the setup from a USB to no avail. I need this to obviously connect to the internet so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There is probably more than one possibility for what network card your laptop has. Check Dell's site, you'll probably find several different ones. It won't hurt anything to download them all and keep trying until you find the one that works.

Actually no. There's only one download available and the drivers are correct for my hardware. They just fail to install.

The only time I've ever seen a driver fail to install like that was when it wasn't the right one-it goes through the install process and then just disappears. If you open the panel on the bottom of the laptop, you should be able to see what wifi card is installed in it.
