Well, I currently use the Beyerdynamic DT 770, which is an excellent headset. It's also a lot cheaper than some of the more "hip" and expensive gaming headsets, but is far more robust and comfortable, as its designed as a studioheadset and made to be worn for long recording sessions. But, it requires a decent sound card or AMP if you want to get the most out of it. The DT 770 is considered an entry level audiophile headset by Headfi.

if you're not an audio snob who looks down on gaming headphones, astro a50's are pretty awesome. I love mine. They are comfortable, wireless, and sound great!

I have read that for gaming headsets the hyperx cloud pro headset is good. (Reviews are pretty good for a gaming headset)

As someone who used to break headsets every 6-9 months even when being careful. I have had the logitech g230 for over a year and a half now and it has held up well. This is not the best sounding headset, it's ok with a decent mic. It gets the job done. It's like 40-50$ .

As everyone else is saying, if you care about audio quality more than anything you want separate headphones and a mic.
