I am looking at a ASrock z97 extreme 6 with a i7-4790k and a gigabyte gtx970. I plan to run the OS on a 128gb SSD which I've not decided on. The one topic that has always confused me is ram. Price is not important I would like to make a rig that will last a few years and have the capability to be overclocked if need be. The links are the items I have decided on. I am also looking at a 700-850watt PSU. Suggestions on the PSU as well would be much appreciated.

Thanks for any info. If you have any issues with the current items I have chosen please let me know. I am have built a few and know the basics.

Any of these will work nicely for the rest it depends on your budget:

As for a psu this is a good one for cable management:

You almost read my mind. I am getting the 850 pro 128GB. The CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB has a rather large heat sync. Would that cause any issues such as overlapping or issues? I know I had friends that ran into an issue with ram hitting the GPU but it looks like they designed the motherboard much better.

Would you recommend going with the liquid cooling or is that really only something you need when overclocking?

Only something needed with oc. There is a difference with water and liquid cooling. I would stay with water cooling.
