So I am putting together a gaming computer on a norwegian site, I can only pick parts that are compatible etc and they put it together.
I would like to play on atleast high setting and 60fps.
I play games like Battlefield 4/Hardline, Pillars of Eternity, Skyrim, Star Wars the old Republic, Runescape, Counter Strike Global Offensive. Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor. All kinds of steam games really.

So I am wondering if I should pick the AMD or the intel one. Any other suggestions are also welcome.

Intel:

  • - Intel Core i7-4790 Socket-LGA1150, Quad Core, 3.6GHz, 8MB, 84W, 22nm, HD4600, Boxed w/fan

    - ASUS Z97-P, Socket-1150 ATX, Z97, DDR3, 2xPCIe-x16, VGA, DVI, HDMI, M.2, Fan Xpert 2+, HomeCloud

    - MSI GeForce GTX 960 2GB PCI-Express 3.0, Witcher 3 (digital voucher)

AMD:

  • - AMD FX-8370 Black Edition Socket-AM3+, 4.0GHz,8-Core, 8MB L2 + 8MB L3 cache, 125W,32nm,Boxed w/fan

    - MSI 970 GAMING, Socket-AM3+ ATX, 970+SB950, DDR3, 2xPCI-Ex16-PCI-Ex1-PCI, SATA 6Gb/s, USB3.0

    - MSI Radeon R9 290 Gaming 4GB GDDR5 PCI-Express 3.0, "Twin Frozr IV", DL-DVI-D + DL-DVI-D, HDMI, DP, 947MHz

Stuff I have in both of the versions:

    - Fractal Design Define R5 Titanium Vifter: 1x 140mm Front, 1x 140mm Bak, Støydempet. mITX, mATX, ATX, USB3.0/2.0

Solution
R9 290 is way better than the 960 and roughly equal to a 970, and also has all 4GB of VRAM running at full speed instead of the 3.5GB in the 970. If you could combine the R9 290 with an i7 that would be best; if not the AMD builld is the superior one for gaming by a long shot.

Then you should do the Intel build and upgrade later.

Not sure why, but I can't pick i5 and r9 290 in the same build on the norwegian site. As i5 is intel and r9 290 is AMD. Ill see if there is a way to have them both. If not ill consider buying them seperate and build it myself, though never build one so can go bad.

No reason you can't put an AMD video card in an intel system, wonder why they don't give you that option. What is the site?

You would probably be much better off buying parts and building it yourself, could get much higher quality for cheaper.

Lots of youtube videos out there that can help you build a computer - it really isn't that hard.
