Problem with user login after setup of new network. HELP!

Hi,

New to networking and need some help. Setup Windows server 2012 on laptop and joined a new user to the domain after seting the user up in active directory but when I go to sign in as that user on my Windows 8.1 pc I get signed out automatically? Still new to this sort of stuff and can't decide what is causing the problem.

Can anyone shed some light?

Did you join the Windows 8.1 PC to the domain?

Only Windows 8 Professional or Enterprise are able to enroll in Active Directory domains and would allow a domain login. See "Domain Join" in link

I did join the Windows 8.1 pro machine to the domain and created a user in AD. I am running a trail version of Windows server so I don't know if that is stopping me signing in? Thanks for your input.
