Will a PCIe 2.0 graphics card work with a PCIe 3.0 mother board?

I have found many post saying it works the other way around (3.0 graphics card and 2.0 mobo). I can only assume this will work better, but I want to make sure before I invest in new parts.

Yes! Only newer higher end graphics cards utilise the x16pci-e speed of new motherboards.
