So I am working on migrating my data, right now I'm backing up and copying files and videos onto a green drive. I opened it and got no USB transfer cable, but of course got the software. Now will this clone and provide me with a fucntional OS copy of Windows 7? I'm not going to reinstall it fresh. I have equipment software on here.

I see paragon disk manager looks much more easier to use. Everyone on youtube is saying this will not copy the OS, it will only copy and clone the files and media in the C drive. I don't want to wait long only to find no Windows 7 on my new SSD.

Please help me here.

Lol figured as much. POS company can't provide a 10 cent USB 3,0 cable. But they can print little pretty pictures of it in the booklet. Now I got to wait till tomorrow to do this since everything is closed.

It;s the 1 TB EVO

I want this as my boot drive.

Source disk is a black WD 2 TB

How much used space on the current HDD?

So I don't even need the cable dock? The mobo will do all the work? Also I am using sata 6gbs, not 3gbs. So I can clone the OS and everything just with the source disk and the new SSD?

Yes. Those sometimes included cable things are primarily for laptops with only one drive bay.
The software doesn't care how it is connected, just as long as it IS connected.

Ok. Because I cleaned out any maleware, nothing bad, just nonsense stuff like pups. I am moving my media to a green drive. Then I will use the SSD for my boot. I edit video, use XLR microphones and capture video.

I am getting Windows 10 when it comes out and realized I might as well get the SSD for when that comes out. Just upgrade W7 at that point.

Migration software Samsung, will not detect my WD as source disk. It displays the EVO as a source disk which will not give me what I want. So I can't clone my C drive. Magician will detect my C drive, but that doesn't do me any good.

hnmm.....I've used that software with zero issues.
How many drives are connected? Have only the source and target in there.

Just check imgur for what I'm talking about. I have my HDD and blank SSD, that's it.

That just looks like mislabeling.
The Source shows it to be 602.7GB out of 1862.9GB, Disk 1. Which would be your 2TB HDD original drive.

Yeah I'm confused. Why is a blank drive my C drive? I'm not cloning till I figure this out. Why is the EVO source 2TBs?

For the Target, Disk 2, that's what will be the C drive. Currently listed as E:.

So even though the source isn't labeled Western Digital, just do the cloning process?

No guarantees, but I think so.
It lists the Source as the 2TB, and the Target as the 1TB.
