I recently wiped the hard drive of a computer to reinstall windows and just wanted to check whether or not it would be ok to reinstall with the same product key but different disk. The only disk I have is windows 7 home premium OEM, and the computer that got wiped had windows 7 pro, does it make any difference? They're both 64-bit and if this doesn't work then I'd also like to ask if Linux is a reasonable temporary replacement.
