Hello, I have recently changed my son's desktop (dell xps 8500) into a larger case (HAF 922). The only problem is that I need a bigger power supply because the one in there right now is only 460w and too short to sit on the bottom. I was going to go to my local Best Buy tomorrow and grab this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/corsair-cx-series-modular-cx750m-750w-atx-power-supply-black/8324202.p?id=1218872214205&skuId=8324202 but when I started searching around I saw this. http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/desktop/f/3515/t/19616091 I was curious as to if this person knows what they are talking about or I should proceed as planned. Thank you!

Hi, that tech rep is blowin smoke up somebody's A**. The cx600m is ATX12v v2.3 certified, and has more than enough power for almost any single modern GPU system out there. Now, it is not the choice if the
PC is going to be used for heavy gaming, overclocking, etc.

The one issue you need to confirm 1st tho is:
many Dell PSU's and motherboards are proprietary. Check and be sure that the power cable from
the PSU to the motherboard is the 20/24 pin type and not something different, in which case you're
out of luck with std ATX PSU's. There should also be a 4/8 pin separate power cable from the
PSU for the CPU only.

Hi again - I just scrolled thru the xps8500 manual, altho it doesn't state the connector cable config,
the diagram does indeed show a 24pin connector, so you are OK to go on that front. It also shows
a 4 pin CPU power cable receptacle, so it appears you are good to go with replacing the PSU.
