I'm getting a Code 10(Device cannot start) on the Intel i218-v ethernet controller. I'm running Windows 8.1 64bit. It's also listed as "Intel(R) Ethernet Connection (2) I218-V" in Device Manager. I've spent 4+ hours on this with no luck. Some things I've tried:

1. Installing the newest Intel drivers
2. Modifying the inf file on the newest Intel drivers
3. Reinstalling Different versions of Win 8.1
4. Upgrading bios to latest one from the Asus site
5. Enabling/Disabling network controllers in the bios
6. Changing network stack settings in the bios

Maybe I'm missing something.

So sometimes when installing the driver it also says no network adaptor found.
No lights showing at the back on the lan port when i connect the ethernet cable also.

Its a brand new build, so maybe the actual adaptor is not working?

really need help please.

Sorry mate. Its been a really long time. I wish i could reply how i solved it back then. I remember using wireless for a long time. It might be fixed with windows 10 and updating windows to latest versions, or maybe motherboard chipset drivers. Good luck.
