Graphic Card preventing PC from booting!

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, and I'm curious about the problem I'm facing as mentioned in the title. I'll give some more details to help you rule out any problems:

- My PSU has been changed recently(2 weeks ago), when my previous PSU just blew up or sparked and stopped functioning. The new PSU is brand new.

- Before the previous PSU blew up, the graphic card seemed to function fine, being a 1 year old Nvidia GTX 560ti (forsa). The only irregularities were the occasional messages stating that "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" following some graphical glitches.

- Now the PC boots up only when the GPU is detached. However, on attaching the GPU, it's fan seems to work and eventually after about 5-10 minutes or so I hear a beep.....that's it.

- Since I'm a complete newb when it comes to hardware, I noticed that there are 2 sockets in the GPU for 6-pin connectors and only one of them is connected. I mentioned this since I'm not sure if both sockets should be connected or not.

Solution
If the card has dual power plugs, you need both connected. If you don't, you could damage the card.

Hopefully you got a better quality power supply this time.

I suspected as much. However, the reason I was unsure about it was because my computer engineer himself was wondering whether both were connected. Also, the PSU only has a single plug, so that made me wonder whether my previous PSU had a single plug too.

The computer engineer thinks it's the GPU at fault, but he's more like a buddy and comes on an unofficial basis so I thought I'd get more opinions here.

So what should I do next?

EDIT- Nevermind, I noticed my 8-pin could be turned into a 6-pin connector and after connecting both the PC booted up like before. Thanks for your help.
