I got the new NFS Rivals game. Everything went smooth in installation. When I launch the game, I get this following error:

---------------------------
DirectX device creation error
---------------------------
Failed creating D3D device of at least version 10.0 on adapter "NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M" with driver "Unknown". Error is E_FAIL ("Attempted to create a device with the debug layer enabled and the layer is not installed.").

This is typically caused by not having the minimum required DirectX support in the GPU.

For NVIDIA GPUs, DirectX 10.0 support is required.

For AMD and GPUs from other vendors, DirectX 10.1 support is required.

My laptop (Dell L502x) specs are: Intel i5-2450M, 6GB, GeForce GT 540M (2GB), running Windows 8.1 Pro.

I checked with nvidia that it supports till DX 11. Which I presume should also support DX 10.

I tried compatibility troubleshoot to no success. I also installed DX run time web installer from windows to install missing DX packages, again no success. I read somewhere, I need a DirectX SDK which comes with Windows SDK to run "Debug layer". I don't know why in first place debug is enabled for the game in production!! If this is the problem, how to turn off debugging?

Can I know how to fix this problem? I really love to play this game. Please help me.

Load with Admin privileges? Reboot? Check the forums of where ever you bought this from. I bought Doom3 on Steam, only to discover that AMDs latest driver broke the game and I'd need to roll back to get it to launch. Perhaps something similar is happening here.
