I plan to get a new psu soon but was wondering if this would work for now.

The mad output power for my psu is 200w, and the 12v line is 163w.

Motherboard: Intel dg45id
CPU:core 2 duo 8400
Ram: 4 sticks of 1 gb elixir 4 gb overall
GPU: amd Radeon hd 6450
1 fan and no optical drive

I don't believe that will be enough. AMD suggests a minimum 400 watt PSU for the entire system using one 6450: That's continuous power at 50 degrees Celsius. The 5450, the generation before yours (and if memory serves me correct all AMD did was re-badge the 5450's and mess with the GPU and Memory speeds) has a suggested amperage (current) of 22 amps.
Granted, this is for the entire system, but I will bet that that 163 watts on the 12V, that you listed, is PEAK power, not continuous; and the math would indicate that it was at best 13.5 amps. Current, amperage, is the important factor in running the pc and video card, not the overall wattage.
You might luck out, but I am going to guess that if you put a moderate load of anykind on that card your computer will start acting up and/or crashing.
I would suggest that as soon as you can afford it swap that 200 out for at least a good 350 and preferably the recommended 400 watt unit.

You're welcome. And here's a good list to consider when you upgrade. I don't think the cost of a Tier 1 psu would be justified, but at least get a Tier 2 or 3.

This is an excellent unit, made by Super Flower, one of the best manufactures (unfortunately out of stock right now but may be back in stock when you are ready).

Yes, I know, more $ then your video card; but we are talking about protecting your whole computer. If the old power supply spectacularly fails it could take the whole PC.
