How can you clone Win 7 from larger HDD (320GB), that is "not" partitioned, to a smaller SSD drive (256GB)? Don't really want to reinstall Win 7 to SSD, if there's another option.

Hey there, James!

Yes, you can do that using a cloning utility. As long as the HDD is not completely full, you can clone it to the smaller 256 GB SSD.
There are a lot of cloning/migrating tools out there, but I personally like Acronis because it will let you select manually which files to clone.
Here's a thread with some other third-party software suggestions: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1848564/hdd-cloning-software.html
And here's a step-by-step to getting the OS to the SSD without reinstalling Windows: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-migrate-to-a-solid-state-drive-without-reinstalling-windows
However, if you have the Win 7 installation media, I'd recommend a fresh install.

:) Good luck!
