Right, so i've been having this issue for some time now and it's bugging the hell out of me. I have a wireless headset, every time i plug it into my PC to charge it, a message pops up ''Power surge on hub port. A USB device has exceeded the power limits of its hub port...'', after which, it ALWAYS turns off my keyboard and nothing else, this even caused my last keyboard to break (Razer Blackwidow) (Getting it replaced). No matter which USB port i plug my keyboard into (USB 2.0/3.0), it's always the one to turn off when the error occurs (It is normally plugged into the back of my PC). Any help appreciated.

Update: There are 4 USB ports on the front of my PC, 2 2.0's and 2 3.0's, i only ever used 3.0's because everything i need is plugged into the back of my PC, as i wrote this thread, I thought i should try to plug in my headset into one of the 2.0's on the front, and i still got the power surge error, however this time, instead of turning off my keyboard, it kinda turned itself off (the headset), so i am starting to wonder, is there some sort of a hardware flaw to do with my headset? Tomorrow, i will try to plug my headset into my dad's PC and see what happens. I will update this when i do it. Thank you.

Update 2: My dad has a wireless headset too, i have just tried to plug his headset into my computer and not power surge or any problem whatsoever occured, i'm starting to believe it's the problem with the circuits in my headset.

Potentially useful information:
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
CPU: Intel i5 4670K
GPU: AMD HD 7950
PSU: Corsair 650W

Simple solution, charge it using the Phone charger :) now i dont know if it is a faulty battery on the headset or faulty a faulty mobo.. try headset on different PC, it the problem persists, the batteries or circuits inside the headset are faulty and use Phone charger just as a security.

Hi, Thank you for answering. I have been using a phone charger wire anyway. Do you think plugging the headset into a socket with the same wire would work? Is that what you meant?

I mean, try charging headset on a different computer with usb charger plugged in it.. if it does the same thing as on your current PC, than the headphones should be fixed ( batteries replaced ), and if it doesnt do the same thing, than your motherboard has some voltage issues and should be RMA if possible, if not possible to RMA just dont use it to charge anything and use it as it is untill it dies or you cant buy new one... the safest solution for now is to use phone charger.

Yes, i can confirm that it is indeed my headset that is the issue. I plugged it into my dad's PC and it had a power surge as well. I will get them replaced, thank you for the help anyway!
