Im trying to setup ssd caching with 60gb corsair ssd for wd blu 1tb but there is no option in the irss software, only performance option that has the same icon as the accelaration option that allows caching.

I've formatted ssd and allocated a volume to it. Changed to raid in bios but still no option to accelerate. All drivers are up to date with fresh install of windows 8.1

My specs:

Pentiumg 3258 (upgrading in future to 5th gen)
Gskill 1600mhz ddr3 2 x 4gb dual channel
Asus z97m plus
Wd blue 1tb hdd
Corsair 60gb ssd
Corsair cx430m
Gtx 750 ti

Is there alternative/better software that you could recommend or a fix for my current problem. Not interested in os on ssd and hdd for programs option.

Solution
I've been fighting with it off an on since I got my Z77 mobo I finally got it to work my NOT formatting the SSD. started with unallocated space, just RIGHT-CLICK >> initialize. then went into RST. (as of the july 2015 version of driver) clicked the pervormance button and there was a blue link on the left of the main pane. "smart response technology" ckicked it and BAM !!!

any time I formatted the SSD so it got a drive letter the intel driver would not recognize it.

also both drives must be connected to the INTEL sata controller
Hey there brkenamfioso and welcome to the community! :)

Take a look at this article, it might prove useful in your case: http://www.pcworld.com/article/248828/how_to_setup_intel_smart_response_ssd_caching_technology.html. It has an explanation on what the technology does and how to set it up.

Hope that helps.

Hi Boogieman

Thanks for quick response. I've followed that articles instructions but dont see an accelarate option in software. When i switch to raid mode do I need to configure the ssd in anyway?

That's a bit odd, if everything's been done according to the instructions, you should have access to the accelerate option so that you can continue with the setup.
Did you switch to RAID mode before you've installed Windows and installed the chipset drivers along with the the Rapid Storage Technology (RST) drivers? You should be able to gain access to the acceleration feature after restarting the computer and opening RST via the system tray icon (in the bottom right corner next to the clock).

i've got the same board (z97m-plus) and had issues with the intel Rapid Storage technology driver till someone on another forum pointed me to Intel's latest driver https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24779/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-RAID-Driver

the driver on the asus z97m-plus support page is not current
