***UPDATE*** I thought it was solved but the problem reared it's ugly head when I started over in the first island which it didn't before until after getting to havana. :(

Assassin's Creed 4 freezes randomly on my GTX 770 but plays fine on my 660Ti How do I find out what the problem is and how do I fix it?

I've gone through Ubisoft and they gave up pretty quick and gave me a code for the 360 version Season pass. A small consolation since I bought the PC game for the graphics.

Here's what I've tried so far:

1. Fresh Install (OS, Steam, uPlay, AC4 all on the C: drive) 120 GB SSD
2. All Drivers updated and installed.
3. Memtest86 (increased voltage which removed any errors)
4. Lowered all graphics settings to minimal levels to see if it was anything in game graphics settings. Still froze.
5. Tweaked global settings in Nvidia CP to no avail.
6. Clean Boot revealed no change in AC4 behavior. Still froze.

Here are my specs from Speccy:

Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center 64-bit

I just unseated the Video Card and RAM and gave it another go. It still froze. My wife noted that it seems to be when I'm mid-air. Jumping/diving. Doesn't really make sense but perhaps this is significant.

Heres what i suggest!
As you already mentioned that you cleaned, installed and updated your Nvidia drivers.
Now i would recommend you doing the same again!
Clean the drivers using Guru driver cleaner,
Install the custom drivers,
Now instead of Updating to right now,
Download this
http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/nvidia-geforce-331-93-beta-drivers-released
nvidia released this patch specifically for Assassins creed 4 Black dearest comrade
Though its beta version, but worth a shot

Oops I clicked best solution on your latest post. :D You're solution seemed to have worked. :D MAN This is insane. Should Nvidia know about this? If they don't then how does this get fixed again? I've been running around Havana now for about 10 minutes and no freezing. Whew. I thought I was going to have to fork out another 500 bucks for a new Video Card. :D You're a life saver man.

Yeah I've tried turning everything off and set low. Nothing.

I've resorted to swapping out my 770 with my 660 Ti temporarily until I finish the game then I'll put my 770 back in so I can play games that are made by companies that appreciate their customers loyalty.

Nvidia support suggested the 350.13 hotfix drivers. The game allowed me to get past the main sequence in Havana but froze after 5 minutes of running around. I guess I'll continue playing on my 660 Ti until they find a fix. It's not a virus for sure since it still did it after a fresh install. Also if it is a virus (if that's what you were suggesting per "trojan") It's not a very effective virus as all it does is freeze AC4 with very specific hardware.

I'm not sure if you are being condescending or just trying to get post points. Yes, I'm aware others are having issues. I'm trying to eliminate all possible problems on my end. I am speaking with Nvidia Support and have tried one new thing that resulted in no solution. We'll see next week if there is something new. Most people I've noticed don't actually take the time to contact the developers with these things. Ubisoft acted like they'd never heard of the problem. Nvidia support seems to think my issue is unique. You and I both know I'm not the only one with the issue. Perhaps it hasn't gotten fixed because people refuse to use the proper channels and post the solutions to other areas. I'm just trying to do my part. Thanks for your proposed solution of "searc on the web".
