As the title suggests, I've been having some issues with my computer.
They've been going on for a good few months now but they've gotten a lot worse recently.

Symptoms

  • When the computer black screens - the GPU fans speed up to 100% and remain there until I hard reset it
The times it can happen are very random, I've had it happen around 10 times during a CheckDisk, it happens often using chrome and happens a lot whilst gaming
sometimes after I've done around 5 resets or so, the computer will begin to work properly and I can use it well.
recently, it can happen during boot - often multiple times before I can get to login

Tests

  • I am relatively certain that it's not a GPU issue as it happened during the checkdisk.
It's not an overheating issue as it can happen during the first boot
Hard disk sentinel returns that my two drives are fine.
Everything would point towards a PSU issue however looking at the bios voltages returns no abnormal results

I could get a PSU tester or I could do other tests to ascertain a different problem, but really any help would be very appreciated.

Specs

  • GTX 560 Ti
    i7 860 (?) - I'll have a look when I get home
    Gigabyte H55-UD3H
    12 Gb (3x 4GB) 1333Hz DDR3
750W PSU - will post model when I get home

If you're able to provide any help at all, thank you
