Yes, your 500w PSU will be fine if it's a decent brand as long as it also supplies enough amps on it's +12v rail and has at least one 6-pin PCIe connector.

Yes, it must have one of those. Don't be tempted to use a molex-to-PCIe adapter when you've just spent good money on a new card. It could go up in smoke and I'm sure that's the last thing you want.
