how does power plan affects cpu performance?

any hidden settings to change to optimize cpu performance? I know there are bound to be hundreds in a power plan but only a few are shown by default.

currently at 4.4 ghz and 1.160 v on i5 3570k

Hey ! i have the same CPU as you i'm currently at 4.6 GHz on 1.2v and apart from making sure that all core ratios are linked so they are the same as each other in the BIOS there is not really anything else you can do to optimise it further apart from increacing the core clock.
