No need for the thermal paste. The Hyper 212 EVO will have you covered there... Also, no need for higher frequency memory or their higher voltage. DDR3-1600 CL9 or lower, or DDR3-1866 CL10 or lower. ..both at 1.5v.

Sorry I'm no expert but I didn't quite understand the difference between the ram isn't a higher frequency better (2133 to 1600mhz? Also will I be able to sli with the power supply you have recommended? Will the cpu cooler fit in the nzxt case? And was the storage bad, the western digital blue has very good reviews and said was very reliable and fast?

Your build is better then the on suggested by sadams04. The SSD is not really needed for gaming.

There is nothing wrong with your build.

You could change to AMD (6350 or 8350) and buy a GTX 970.

You could also go with E3-1231 instead of the i5, or with a i5 4460, get a cheaper motherboard (h97 or older chip), remove the cooler, and with the money you save get a better GPU, which will improve your gaming experience

RAM frequency differences is a VERY small performance difference that you can use to spend elsewhere to seriously increase performance. The WD Caviar Blue, although 7200 RPM, is not a fast hard drive. The upside though is that the old thing that a mild HD like that will do is increase wait times. It won't make any difference in the in game performance. You're build is very very good for a first time. I would keep a type of thermal paste unlike what the first person who replied stated because its a good idea to periodically clean and reapply the paste. As a final thought if you want to save money and check for compatibility PC part picker is a place that will verify compatibility and find the lowest cost seller for each part in your build.

if in future you overclock then you can add a cheap aftermarket cooler
