There is a popular misconception that you need a 990FX board for overclocking. No. You only need a 990FX board for multiple GPU setups as the 990FX chipset supports the extra PCIe lanes you need.


My favorite budget OC board for single GPU setups is the Gigabyte GA 970A-UD3P.
- 8+2 phase power
- Good VRM and chipset cooling
- LLC calibration

Got my FX 6350 to 4.950GHz stable.
