Hi, I've had my Palit 970 since December and I wanted to know if overclocking it using MSI Afterburner will increase performance. If overclocking it does increase performance how far can i push it.
Can Someone pls help?
Thanks.

The MSI and Gugabyte ones almost always hit boost clocks of 1500Mhz and above.... the Asus and EVGA struggle to get past 1465 or so. As to the Palit, they seem to be in Asus / EVGA territory.

With AfterBurner we applied:

GPU clock +100 MHz
Power limiter 111%
Mem clock +450 MHz
Volatge + 87 Mv
FAN RPM 65% (remains fairly silent)

Overclocked to above settings
Core Clock 1252 MHz
Boost Clock: 1430~1443 MHz
Memory Clock: 7908 MHz

Would this work well with AMD 8320 and ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0
And i tried this and played batman arkham city but it crashed straight away

I was speaking to the MSI card whose settings were in the MSI link

Original [Reference] GTX 970
Core Clock: 1050 MHz
Boost Clock: 1178 MHz
Memory Clock: 7000 MHz

This sample [MSI 980 "Outta the box"]
Core Clock: **1140 MHz**
Boost Clock: 1279 MHz
Memory Clock: 7000 MHz

Overclocked [MSI 970 manually OC'd]
Core Clock 1325 MHz
Boost Clock: ~1501 MHz
Memory Clock: 8002 MHz

The default core clock is listed as "default clock" in GPU-Z

Board and CPU is generally immaterial.

Brand / model matters.... The MSI and Gigbayte have more OC headroom than the Asus and EVGA

What PSU you have matters as better voltage regulation and lower ripple (noise) helps stability

Interior case temps matter

And, simply the variation in quality from one chip to another results in a large variance in success

I'm not using an MSI card, I'm using a Palit card and the default clock on that card is 1152MHz

Geez how'd we get off on this tangent....

I responded to a post saying

depends how radical you want to get--but you can use maxwell bios tweaker to up the power limits--i am at 1600mhz on msi gtx970 and its got a little left yet---though my gtx970 is water cooled

And asked the MSI owner

Is your default clock 1140 "as advertised" or 1114 like many out there ?
