So basically, I've spend a long time thinking about upgrading my PC.

I first though to get a new motherboard and get Intel i5.

I have an AMD motherboard with an OEM windows so really, i can't be bothered to get a new motherboard as my windows will be gone so i thought, why not just get a new CPU from AMD and a new graphics card. Is this a good idea?

Would this be the best CPU to get?:

Also the GPU i was thinking of getting is this:

Do you think this is fine?

Also this is my whole PC summary.

Solution
Get the Gtx 970 you linked, it's a good card and will help game performance even with that cpu. Then start saving for new mobo/cpu/ram and operating system. Don't waste money upgrading on that old socket, your maxing it out pretty much.

Edit: There are slightly cheaper gtx 970's on amazon.uk

Thanks Andy, that's what i've been wanting to hear lol.

Can you help me with a like a some sort of list for me to buy for the new mobo/cpu/ram and os?

Links from amazon would be amazing!

That is the wrong processor. You want the i5-4690K (unlocked for overclocking)
If you aren't willing to do a bit of overclocking, go with the i5-4460 and the h97 motherboard.

If you go with the unlocked cpu, you will want to overclock it. I would add a better cooler. Let me get you amazon.uk links.

For your GPU it depends on your future needs.
Are you staying on a 1080p monitor?
Do you plan to buy a Virtual reality headset?
The r9 280x is an awesome buy right now. You can find around the same price as a gtx 960 but it out performs it by quite a bit. This is enough for 1080p gaming on high settings with good fps.

Sorry, I changed my recommendation. Put more money into the video card, less into the cpu.

This is the best bang for the buck for gaming. Graphics card is what matters, I got side tracked in whether you should go i5-4460 vs i5-4690k. However for the money you save, it almost pays for a gtx 970.

7 is a waste if you mostly care about gaming. Anyone on TomsHardware will tell you the same. Only difference between i5 and i7 is, a little bit of cache, 100mhz, and hyper threading. Hyper threading splits the 4 cores into 8 virtual cores. It does very little for performance except in certain rendering tools that take advantage of all those virtual cores. 99% of all games only use max 4 cores. Only one I know that could use more was the new wolfenstien.

Windows 8.1 if you want to game, I hated windows 8. 8.1 with classic shell and the charms menu/active corners disabled feels just like windows 7. 8.1 has performance upgrades, and microsoft says anyone who owns a legit copy of 8 or 8.1 gets windows 10 for free.

Gtx 970 will max out everything on ultra at 1080p and easily stay above 60-70fps. If you want like 100fps turn down AA(Anti-Aliasing)

That build will play GTA 5 as well as anything out there.
