Corsair 500w PSU - Upgrading to EVGA 970?

Hello all, this is probably a common question but I currently have a Corsair 500w Bronze series PSU and I was looking to upgrade my GPU to an EVGA GTX 970 ACX 2.0 card.

However, when I looked on the manufacturer's website, they stated that the card requires a minimum of 500w. So I researched about it and found some people in the same situation as me but they had a really budget-based PSU (can't remember the brand name but it wasn't a popular one and had a reputation of dying) and they were advised to upgrade to 600w or higher.

Since I have a decently branded and quite solidly built PSU, would I need to upgrade to 600w or higher?

Also, would my i5 3330 possibly slow down the GPU in any way? I doubt it would but I just want to be 100% sure.

Thanks in advance.

Give us the exact model. Some corsairs are not as good as one would hope from the name.

500w Bronze corsair. So it's probably either a CX or VS neither is very good, both are notorious for failing early. They will power a 970 atleast until the caps fail and the ssystem starts shiring down rand only and u der load. Your i5 will not be a bottleneck.

The picture shows that it's a CX500M, to be specific.
