Hey all!
I have an ASUS Z77-V PRO Motherboard with 2 sticks of 4GB Ram currently (totaling in 8GB). I would like to upgrade to 16GB, however one of my memory slots is faulty, if I'm not mistaken. I don't know when this happened, but I've had the motherboard for 3+ years now, and I'm sure the warranty barely even applies anymore. That being said, I have two questions, sort of.
1.) Before I upgrade to 16GB RAM using 2x8GB modules, would it be better if I got an upgrade motherboard first?
Also...
2.) Are there any major changes coming to RAM in the near future that would be better to wait for? There's no major urgency, just as a video game and film composer, having more RAM would be ideal given the newer audio software, as well as newer video games requiring more power.
Thanks for the help in advance!
