Everything will be compatible out of the box. An i3 is your best bet if you want a gaming CPU which will work will with your current parts and has a decent upgrade path. It's performance will be on par/better than the 6300 and 860k out of the box in...

Okay. Umm what about these compatibility notes:
-Asus A88X-PLUS ATX FM2+ Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the Thermaltake VL80001W2Z ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.

-Some AMD A88X chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Kaveri CPUs.

-Unable to verify the Thermaltake VL80001W2Z ATX Mid Tower Case and the Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler are compatible.

Also what if I just go with the FX-6300 and get rid of the Cooler. Or would it be better to overclock the athlon and just get the cooler?

I find another Case (new version) : http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Grqqyc
About Bios you need ask shop to Update or borrow older CPU from someone to update Bios on motherboard by yourself.

Any way previous case, will work with this CPU cooler for sure.
And about USB 3 ports older case have only USB 2.0 ports in front, still motherboard will have also USB 2.0. and USB 3 can be aces from motherboard only in the back of the Case.

What does the real world performance difference come to? " There's more to a CPU than the chart in this thread."

The 860k is a decent CPU when overclocked but with the FM2+ socket it's at the end of the line, where as the i3 can be upgraded to a Broadwell i5 or i7 later on.

Is there anyway you could find me a motherboard that would fit a normal ATX Mid Tower case?

Would this work? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/VCYNBm
It has this compatibility note: ASRock H97 Anniversary ATX LGA1150 Motherboard has an onboard USB 3.0 header, but the NZXT Source 210 (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case does not have front panel USB 3.0 ports.

Okay thanks, another thing. I currently have the AMD a8-5500 cpu. Would it even be worth upgrading to the i3-4150? I was looking at comparisons and it wasnt really all that much of a difference. Then again, I dont know much about cpus

Tough call, but since you use a 260x I would say no. The performance difference will vary from game to game, and unless your current APU isn't capable of maintaining the target frame rate you want regardless of the visual settings I wouldn't upgrade.

If you decide to upgrade to a GPU such as a R9 280/GTX 960 and beyond it would be worth looking into a more powerful CPU.

They were playing at an even higher resolution. I play all my games at 1280x720. They were playing at 1920x1080. I watched multiple videos of different people and they were all getting pretty high fps. Im lucky to even get 40 fps on the lowest settings and I also get lag spikes.
