I have a MSI B75A-G41 (MS-7758) (SOCKET 1155) and i want to upgrade my processor from an i3 to an i5. I need to know if there is a big difference between the i5 i can get in my motherboard and an i5 i can get in a motherboard with a different socket size. And if there isn't a big difference I need to know what i5 i can get in my motherboard .

There is virtually zero difference for gaming between i5 for a socket 1155 and for newer sockets. The list of available and compatible CPUs is here:

Your chipset does not support overclocking, so do not get any of the i5s with "K" letter in the end of their name.

Suggested: i5 3300, the cheapest of the ivy bridge series, or if you don't mind spending a little more get i5 3470 or i5 3570.

Also, before you even buy the CPU, update your motherboard's BIOS to the latest version. Most B75 boards require latest BIOS for ivy bridge CPUs to work.

What i3 do you have?
Is this a gaming pc?
Do you have a discrete graphics card?

I might suggest the i5-3550 @3.3 which does not include integrated graphics. It should be priced reasonably on the used market.
New prices tend to be higher than new tech. The i5-3570 @3.4 is about as good as you can do.

The newer haswell chips are, indeed faster per clock and better price performers, but that would also require a motherboard change.
