Hey guys, I have a little situation right now. I was swapping some fans in my desktop. I turned it on to the test the fan I was installing. The computer turned on for about a second and then turned off. I tried the paperclip method and the power supply powered up, I even plugged in that fan I wanted and it worked as well. I tried shorting the power button pins on the motherboard but with no luck. This leads me to believe I may have a dead motherboard. Any help at all is appreciated, thank you.

Usually when it starts up for a second or two then shuts down there is a short somewhere. I would disconnect all of the new fans and see if it works without them connected. If it does, add them back one by one-with the system off, do NOT plug them in with the power on-and see if you can find the culprit.
