GTX780 SLI or GTX980

I have a EVGA GTX780 SC with ACX cooler and would like to know, if EVGA GTX780 hydro copper would be compatible to perform SLI, there is small difference between clock speeds.
the GTX780 hydro copper is USD 544 dollars, they both are GTX780 from EVGA, but the board models numbers are the different, the on board ram are the same 3GB
OR
should I put in some money and just buy a GTX980 which is USD 710.

I would buy a 980. I have a 780 and COD AW cant be maxed out even at 1080p because of only 3gb VRAM. I suspect this will be more common in the future. IMO a high end setup needs at least 4gb vram these days

thanks, my first GTX780 is liquid cooled by EK-FC block, getting this one would be read made water cooling, the only point where I am a bit confused is that will they perform flawlessly after balancing the clock speeds
