The display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered. Not sure what the problem is and how to fix it.

Hello

A couple week ago, my Father gave me a Dell Precision 380 workstations that he had got from his work as they were upgrading their computer. It has a Intel Pentium D 3.2 GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a NVIDIA Quadro FX 3500. I decide to use it for general use as they are quite nippy and did a good job for what I needed it for. After a couple of weeks, I began to get error messages saying that the display driver has stopped responding and has successfully recovered when using Youtube. Then, it started to get more frequent and happened when browsing them web and every time I open a new application. On the bios screen when starting the PC there are hundreds of "broken pixels" that disappear once the operating system has loaded. Also when in the bios, several whole letters and turquoise in colour. Now, triangular shape occur on the screen. Its hard to describe to I took a picture of it.

I have tried replacing the graphics card with an identical one and got the same problems. I have tried running the computer on Windows 7 and 8 and got the same problems. I have installed various graphics drivers which did not help.

Yesterday, I reseated the RAM and all the problems went, every single one. However, after around an hour of use, they came back as they were.

Quick bump and some more information.

I also forgot to mention that I occasionally get a blue screen of death after the display driver freezes for more than a couple seconds.

I have this problem as well. I have narrowed it down to, Power Supply, Memory, Video card going, VIDEO CARD Driver / outdated driver / incompatible current driver (perhaps installing an old driver set). This reallyyyyy does not narrow it down besides changing out each component and such 1 at a time. I am going to start with drivers first. A while ago i was getting problems and found out it was ONLY the power supply going. That is also an easy fix to see because you can go to best buy get a power supply and check to see if it work. COULD also just be a bad mobo but wait to see about that last.

The problem is not in tdr or any outdated drivers...the problem is in your RAM i am 100% sure.to fix it go to bios and if your ram speed is for example 1600mhz deacrese it to 1333mhz ;). I had same problems and tryed 1000 solutions none of them worked util i realized it was RAM,so lower the speed of ram and u will be fine.
