Hello.

I've had a pc with Palit Gtx-660 2gb graphic card for about 1 and half years now, and it has always been running fine. Runs all the new games with high graphics without any problems.

But now, just last week, I've been having some serious issues with the graphic card, because it really heats up, to about 70 degrees celsius, and because of that it makes my fps drop in games.

Yesterday, I removed the card, cleaned all the dust out (which it had a bit) and then replaced the old thermal grease with new one.
Even after that, right now im getting 65 degrees, and I havent even done anything special.
I checked all the fans, that they are working properly. I got 3 fans in the case: 1 in front, 1 on top, 1 in back. 1 CPU fan, power supply fan and 1 on the graphics driver.
Weird thing is that this just suddenly started to occur, and I never had this problem before.

I've been trying to find a solution for this, but every advice just says to clean dust and replace themalpaste.
I've done that, no improvement.

Any ideas whats wrong with it?

Also, here's my PC specs:

AMD FX-6100 3.3 GHz
Kingston 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1866MHz
1000GB 7200rpm SATAII
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 (2 GB)
Windows 7 64-bit
Gigabyte 970A-DS3
Zalman Z5 plus

The problem is, this GPU has never reached temperatures like this. And now that it is, it just makes playing games impossible, because i get quite a low framerates.
I did some more research and found out that for example EVGA GTX 660 has this same sort of issue where the temperatures just suddenly get high, and then it's basically broken.
I contacted the seller for this, and now im waiting for answer.

Also to add, few days ago when I wasnt yet aware of this problem, when I was just browsing the internet with Google Chrome, the screen suddenly went black, and then came back. And there was a text which said that the graphics driver has stopped working, which obviously could mean that it got overheated and shut down right?

Any other things there could be wrong?

Update:
I contacted the NVIDIA live support, and from there I was told to reinstall the drivers, and so I did.
First it seemed to work, the temperature at idle was 30 degrees, and ingame i had good fps and GPU temperature was around 50.
Few hours after that, everything went to bad again. Idle temp is 70, i get poor fps, and the Thunder Master shows that 96% of the core is being used (while idle!)

This is really frustrating, and I'm still trying to find a solution to fix it.
Not to mention GTA V is coming out in few days, and I probably wont be able to play it because of this...
