Stick with 2 x SLI GTX 680 4 GB, or buy a Titan X

As the title states, I'm currently running two EVGA GTX 680 4GB cards in SLI, and am wanting to finally upgrade after a few years. I was thinking of buying a GTX Titan X, leaving one of my 680's in my rig as a PhysX card. I would eventually buy a second Titan X to run in SLI, however due to the obvious cost reasons it will be awhile before I buy a second.

SO, my question is: will I notice a significant performance increase over 2x GTX 680s with a Titan X and a 680 as a PhysX? It would be awesome if someone could dig up some benchmark numbers for a Titan X vs SLI 680's. What do you guys think?

Agree with ZeusGamer, I really don't think you'll see much of an improvement with a TitanX, 'old' as they are those dual 4Gb GTX680s are they must still be kicking some serious a## so I think your money would actually be better spent on a better/faster display.

I really can't say from personal experience about Gsync, I'm a dyed-in-the-wool AMD fanboi. ;)
From what I've read though it's really great, no screen tearing and super fluid gameplay with no 60FPS frame rate cap, sounds like it was intended for your rig.

Try GTA V on Tuesday, but take the performance with a pinch of salt, it seems no dev can actually release a finished game these days, so wait until the first patch (or two) has been released before deciding on which upgrade to...

One GTX 680 is 48% of the GTX TitanX. So I magine that if you have two in SLI configuration, that's closer to 96%. But not all games scale 100% when you SLI, am I right? So you can buy a TitanX and have an amazing single card that will overpower your GTX 680 SLI configuration:

PS
It's up to you if you think that it's enough to upgrade your GTX 680's. In my opinion, if you have the money to waste? Then go for it .

I think you should post your monitor/s specs because even on dual 1080 displays I think you'll be seeing over 60 FPS in most games with your current setup so it might be better for you to go for a Gsync monitor rather that swap out the current graphics cards.

Well my monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster S27B350: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/LS27B350HS/ZA
Does GSync really make that big of a difference as far as performance? I know how it works in theory but I have never seen it in real life, it always sounded more like a gimmick than a feature. What do you think?
Maybe I'm just itching for a new toy or maybe I just have the money to burn right now, but I am really liking the specs on the Titan X. Ill see how the 680's perform in GTA V on Tuesday. The only game they haven't run at max settings forcing 64x AA was FarCry 4 and that is probably because a 2 year old could have optimized that game for PC's better than Ubisoft did.

You think FC4 is bad with an Nvidia card? Try it with a R9 290. :(

Hi, according to the graph by ZeusGamer, I was noticed that GTX970 SLI is 4% performs better than a Titan X. A GTX960 should be performed a little bit better than a GTX680 (You can refers to here). So, I assume that GTX680 SLI is almost similar like GTX960 SLI. So for now, you can clearly notice that, a Titan X is performs better than GTX680 SLI for sure.

However, I will choose for GTX1070 because it is 3% performs better than a Titan X according from 3DMark Fire Strike graphics score.
