very good build and i'd stick with a single 980 over dual 970 as both will get great fps @ 1080p but the 980 offers more upgrade ability, costs less and doesn't pose any of the issues with sli
Try to do this. Its about 40-50% faster than a single 980
Not a fan of sli setups if its a new build. Too many issues to be wanting to start that up. Heat, stuttering, case room, and more. I will probably sli my setup eventually, but I wouldn't suggest a sli for a brand new build.

The GTX 970s in SLI will still out perform the GTX 980.
It processing yes, but not in vram. Thanks to the false advertising on the gtx 970 which still has a sour taste in most people's mouths, it has only 3.5 gig.
i like the 970 a lot and have one myself but @ 1080p a 980 is overkill so going with 2 970's would give no benefit as you'd already max everything out so the choice is everything maxed with a single gpu and all the benefits of that or everything maxed with sli and the downsides of it
It is now down to personal preference. In bf4 which is graphically demanding it averages about 90fps with a minimum of just about 65 which i would have no problem playing at however if kirby thinks this would outweigh other points then they should get 970 sli but for me personally it doesn't.
I say about because obviously it will very depending on the system.

True after a solid 50fps its all a matter of opinion.
Screenshots arn't good. because you arn't moving around
well I would take it in motion, but I could cheat and edit the screen shot. Do you object to a camera looking at the screen? (I don't want to lose fps from screen recorders.)
