USB Mouse and Keyboard cease responding to input after 5-10 minutes

About five to ten minutes after launching a game or several hours into generic PC use, my USB mouse and keyboard lock up. Both are still recieving power. The mouse's LED continues to flash and will dim normally if I leave it idle. Num/Caps/Scroll Lock on the keyboard will remain active if it was so prior to the issue

Running Firefox or Chrome, I can squeak by around three or four hours before the issue presents itself. This includes high process uses such as Netflix, or flash gaming.

Speakers, as well as the program currently running will continue to run normally.

The issue continues no matter which USB slot is used. Switching USB slots after the issue manifests causes the "Device Removed/Installed" sounds to play.

The issue started several weeks ago with random mouse disconnects for a second or two every few minutes, and has since proceeded to its current state. Switching the mouse out with a newly purchased one has not solved the problem.

The only workaround I've found is a soft reset or simply powering down. Virus scans using Microsoft Security Essentials and AVG 2015 have both been performed normally and in safe mode.

System Specifications
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit, SP1
Intel i5 - 2400 CPU
8 GB of RAM
AMD Radeon 7700 Series GPU (I'd need to crack my case to get the model)

MSE and AVG both kind of suck as far as virus scanners go. Try https://www.malwarebytes.org/
Try going into Device Manager and making sure your computer isn't turning off your usb devices to save power:

Also go into Control Panel > Power Options and choose High Performance mode as well and see if the problem still occurs.

I'm already in High performance, and both devices only have the option to check "Allow device to wake computer". I'm also paying for AVG and have had no issues.

A bit of background information about my experience. I have earned my CompTIA A+ Certification for Practical Apps and Essentials (220-701/702) Expiry June 2015. I'm currently studying the Server, Network, and Security books for a group test.

The issue is with Mouse/Keyboard simply not accepting any valid input. Both have power, and work one second, then just.... stop. I'll see if I can get a video file loaded from my Phone documenting the issue.
Speakers will continue to function.
The display will continue to run.
If I have voice activated chat set to ON, my headset works fine in both directions.
My CD ROM drive will run Autoplay if I insert a CD.
Any running programs, such as DotA2, Starcraft2, EU4, Firefox, and Flash will all continue to run as they were prior to the loss of input, up until the failure of input causes a loss of functionality. Such as unpausing, "Next Mission" buttons, Attempting to switch to another tab. Any attempt to move the mouse from it's location or left, right or scroll wheel fails. Any keystoke, such as CTRL+ALT+Delete, or the Windows key, or any Function key has no effect.

Again, I said I'd try to get a video, as this issue seems to be happening for others, and replicating an issue is usually the first step in finding a solution.
