I am looking to upgrade my processor as my current is not 'running its money' so I was wondering if I could get some help.
My motherboard is a GIGABYTE M68MT-S2 AM3+ socket and I have a budget of under £125
Thanks

£5 over your max but you should get £50-60 for your old board+CPU IMO.

The 6300 is a fair upgrade .

His board doesn't support the 8350. The fastest cpu it supports is the X6 1100T. While it does support the bulldozer(faildozer) cpus the older phenoms are actually faster since they have a better single core performance.

Your motherboard only has a 4pin power connector so are limited to 95W chips. Also if you go the 8 core route your motherboard lacks heat spreaders on the vrms which is important for AMD motherboards especially those with 8 cores. The 8120 would be the best possible upgrade but you would be limited to the 95w version. If I was in your position I would either get a new motherboard with the fx 6300, or I would get an fm2+ motherboard with a 860k.
