Hi, i'm out of idea.. i put together my computer, intel i5, with gigabyte wifi h97n motherboard. i have microsoft wireless mobile mouse i've had for a couple of years and worked like a charm... until now.
Problem:
1. mouse lags.
When: startup (as windows loads all necessary running programs, right now as i am typing though slightly, and when opening programs)
Solutions tried so far:
- changed bios setting of usb legacy to auto (from enabled)
- changed usb root hub power management
- changed option in antivirus so it does not scan usb
- changed nvidia graphic card 3D option to triple buffering for certain programs (this kind of fix the issue strangely.... but i think this option only if mouse lags in games :( )
- reset the mouse (removing battery and drained remaining charge)
- installing mouse software (didn't make a difference even after restarting so i uninstall the stupid software)
- uninstall geforce experience so it does not run in the background all the time
- checked all mouse and usb settings, drivers definitely up to date
- changed virtual memory setting, i didn't change total paging file size, just changing from custom to system managed size

2. problem no:2 leads us to one of the solution i tried.... putting usb receiver on different port.... thinking that the 3.0 ports at the back would give me solution, but the mouse didn't even work! it recognized it but mouse didn't respond, OR mouse dissapeared, OR no respond at all :(
The front ports seems to be working the best, definitely for the keyboard, but it seems a waste that i have 4 usb 3.0 ports that i can't even use (one works for my external hd and i'm not touching that one :D)

Help please... i am no expert but i tried to find my own solution before i asked question and i am stuck. i see there are so many posts on this issue, but none solve my problem :( as of now as i am typing i have slight lag to my mouse, but it is so annoying especially because this is a brand new motherboard and everything in it also new :( how can i fix this? is this usb problem or mouse problem? i should be able to plug in usb device in any of it right? :( the mouse worked like a charm in my old alienware laptop (he had a stroke and a code blue, he maybe about 93 yrs old human age, that's why i have a new comp). Thanks! sorry for the long post :(

Update: Somehow under device manager i have 2 usb mouse entry, disabled and uninstall one, solved the problem for a bit (which got my hopes up) but now it lags again, especially when downloading data off the internet or loading a program.... please help :( i'm out of ideaotherwise the usb keyboard working excellent, just the mouse.

Solution
I mean you have JUST ABOUT enough power to drive your mouse with those components...

I am of course joking. This is nothing related to your components, it is almost certainly a software/firmware related problem.

Try another mouse on the same PC and see if that works. Preferably with a cord.

Hi, thanks for the reply. The mouse worked excellent with my (RIP) very ancient alienware laptop. It works fine with my crappy hp pavillion notebook also... both without mousepad, because the mouse works wonderfully even over the armrest of the couch and me lap (^^) Just now i changed the monitor setting to game mode, as per suggested in other threads.... so far so good, but hopefully not like when i disabled and uninstall the second usb mouse entry, it worked like a charm for a bit then it started to lag again...... if this doesn't solve the problem i dunno what else.... thank you for your reply... any other ideas if this is not working? i have 8 G memory, and NVIDIA GTX750 with 2G memory.... should be sufficient. the thing is my usb keyboard works like a charm, no problem there. again, thanks for the reply. please let me know if you have any other suggestion

What else could I do to check the system? Oh ya, the only thing i haven't done is update motherboard firmware (which i shouldn't need to do since the motherboard is new and everything is freshly installed right? or no? :( ), i'm gonna see if this works first. All other hardwares (printers, external hd, external optical drive, digital cam) seems to attached just fine to the usb ports at the back. I've listed all i've done so far, maybe you have other ideas... again, so far so good after changing monitor setting, but any input will be appreciated ! thank youuuu :D

Now seriously....

WTF the most morons (the great Guru of the technology) are thinking in here???

Do we are so stupid to come in here to ask for an opinion, before we have checked out BEFORE about if (for example) the same mouse is working FINE on another computer???

I do have the same problem, on a specific PC with a USB mouse that works PERFECTLY on 4-5 other computers!!!

It is obvious that something is going wrong with the USB function!!!
I alerady have checked with a the USB and a 2nd P/S2 (connected in parallel) that is working fine!!!

The only I have to check out now, is to replace the USB KEYBORD that I suspect its the problem and I will get bak too let you know if something ha changed....

i solved this problem of mine sometime ago, apparently the receiver was not close enough to my mouse..... :( so dumb.... got extra usb port, attached it behind my monitor, works fine since! :)
