So I'm currently running an i5 3570k oc'd to 4.2 on a little corsair water cooler with temps consistently running in the mid 30's C. I have been thinking about buying a new board and processor but Im only using a Radeon 270x. Would upgrading to a 4690k be worth the upgrade with a new board or would it just be a waste given my gpu. I have to be honest Im totally happy with my current system I dont need to upgrade. . . but Im sure most of you understand, I NEEEEED to upgrade just because if I dont get new computer toys once every 2 years or so Im not happy. I guess what Im asking here is, is there enough of a difference between the two cpus to warrant purchasing the new board and 4690k.

No way! It's GPU time for you. That is where you want to spend your money. Gtx 970 if possible. If you prefer AMD I'd suggest you wait for the new gpus to be released by AMD.

You may not be able to afford the 290x or 390 but I am quite sure there will be other options coming out as well.

Well actually I usually do upgrade because there is a 3 stage handme down process here. The gamer wife gets my old system one of my two boys gets her old parts depending on who has the lesser system.

That is a cool setup. Wish my x wife gamed... might not be my x wife if that were the case.... ;) JK
