hello I recently purchased a Seagate Expansion Portable Drive that is 1TB. I plugged it into my pc and i could not locate it. I went into disk management, my computer and device manager with no luck of locating the hard drive. I plugged it into another laptop but I ran into the same issue. I went onto seagates support site and downloaded the sea tools and diagnostic software yet I couldn't locate the hard drive there either. Plugged it into other usb ports on the laptop and pc yet the problem still persists

Solution
Hey there Jacxl2b1 and welcome to the community! :)
It seems like you've already tried the basics. Does the drive spin up or vibrate when you connect it to the computer? It might be a faulty drive, having in mind it can't be detected with a different cable, a different computer and the HDD diagnostic tool as well. I'd suggest that you contact the manufacturer's customer support directly and ask about RMA.

Hope that helps.

Unfortunately the answer was probably selected as I've mentioned that the RMA might be the only solution here. As I've already written if the drive is not recognized on any computer or with any USB cable you try it with, perhaps it's a faulty drive. It would be best to turn to the vendor you got it from or the HDD manufacturer's customer support so that you can get it replaced if it's under warranty. :(

Well that's another story. Of course, if you have that which you need to recover and the drive is not detected by any computer, not even the BIOS/UEFI, then your only option would be a data recovery company. So yes, you should first recover the data and then RMA it. You could get in touch with the manufacturer's customer support to see if the guys there can offer any help with the data recovery.

Good luck!
