I'm upgrading my AMD rig to Intel and I'm thinking of getting the Intel i5-4460 to replace my FX6300, Is this a good choice? if so what MoBo should i get? If not what CPU do you recommend? The MoBo doesn't have to have anything fancy I just need it to be sub £100 and fit in an ATX case, maybe black and Blue because of my current colour scheme.

Thanks in advanced

He means that any i5 will out perform most of the AMD CPU's. Yes, it will work just fine. Since its not a "K" series processor your overclocking will be limited, but I can testify that you shouldn't have any performance issues (I own this processor). To meet your motherboard specifications look to a business series (B85) chipset and make sure you at least put in 8GB of 1600 DDR3. Gaming performance will depend a lot on your video card. If its a few years old there may be a bottleneck, but I doubt it. Many people will advise an aftermarket cooler, I am one of them. Nothing fancy, a CM 212 will work fine. If you like closed loop a CM Siedon or Antec H620 are good. I'd get a 450W Bronze power supply, unless you already have...

Oh Ok thanks for the heads up, I'm going to re-purposing most of my current build due to budget issues, atm all im upgrading is my CPU and MoBo. Ive currently got a Hyper 412 CPU cooler, 8Gb G.Skill Ripjaws 1333Mhz ram(which is currently overclocked to 1600Mhz), an R9 270 and as you've seen an EVGA 650w G1. All these(apart from my PSU) will be getting upgraded further into the future.

Can you suggest any specific Motherboards?

Motherboards: Asus, ASRock, Gigabyte. You should be able to find one in blue. Most B85 MB's are under $80.

VRumor: I was trying to frame it so he'd get it. Yes, there is no discernable difference between the i5s as far as in game performance is concerned. The K series can overclock more affectively but he didn't seem to be concerned with that.

One more question, What about Z87 motherboards?

They are fine, for what they do. Some of them have a superfluous third PCI-E slot that most people will/ can not utilize. They can be overclocked more easily (on some bios sets) than the B85 (if you want to overclock). Otherwise they seem to be very similar. I'd go with a brand you trust and get a board that is expandable that affordable.

Ahh Ok, Well first of I wouldn't utilize that third PCI-E slot, Secondly I wouldn't be overclocking because the i5-4460 can't be overclocked, So I would probably end up going with a B85 Motherboard.
