Cannot get sound card to show up on computer to install audio driver.

I just purchased a new sound card for my computer an Xonar Essence STX . I have attempted to install it with no success. The sound card is in its proper PCI-E slot and has the appropriate four pin power cable connected. However it does not show up at all on my computer. The only thing that I can figure out is that it is some how not getting power. I have gone through the manual for my motherboard and my sound card at least a dozen times and cant find any problems in my bios settings or otherwise. Please help thank you.
Computer Specs
Motherboard- Asus H97M-E
Processor- Intel core i5
Graphics Card- Radeon R9 270x
Power supply - corsair cs750m

Yep I have gone through the instructions several times. As well as giving it to someone else to see if I was missing something. I haven't contacted Asus but I will give that a try.

It turned out that the driver that came with the card was out of date. I downloaded one for windows 8.1 from ASUS. Works and sounds great now. Thanks for all you help guys !!!
