Greetings,

My Samsung Smart tv will connect to a wired connection but not wireless. After troubleshooting the issue Samsung is telling me I have to get the tv serviced but it is out of warranty. I can't afford it nor do I think its fair since its only a few years old. At any rate, when I try to connect it will find a list of available networks but when I click on mine it won't ask for the password. It just sits there. Also, I have to reset and start a new set up to even get that far. So, my only option is a direct connection.

The problem is my router is located in another part of the house and I can't move it. I"m trying to figure out if I can use an old router I have. Is there a way to somehow configure it so I can plug it into the living room for a wired connection to the tv without having to run a long ethernet cord between the two.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I"m on a tight budget trying to use what I have without spending money.

Thanks

Are you using WPA2 for your wirless security? If so try switching to WPA1 or WEP. Some older TVs do not support WPA2.

If this does not work try using a WGA...

A WGA is a wireless repeater device which will allow you to connect your TV to the either net port and it will convert it to WiFi.

You can try to use your old Wireless Router but make sure it supports Bridging Mode and Wireless repeater functions. Not all routers do.
