Just out of curiosity I am wondering what people are doing with their gtx 970's that decided to upgrade or change brand?

I purchased a gtx 980 and still have my gtx 970 and even a r9 290x for the matter. Anyways are you holding on to them to see what the outcome is from nvidia or are you just selling them?

I'm not looking for a piss match or anything, I know some people are dead against others buying a 980 after owning a 970 and still supporting the company. I am just looking to see if it's worth selling the card or holding out until nvidia makes a decision or the supposed "law suit" ends.

Thanks :)

I started with a GTX 970 and later upgraded to a R9 290x. After that I moved up to a GTX 980. Of course when the R9 295x2 came out I upgraded again and bought two. Not for crossfire, but I needed an extra doorstop. Of course, now I'm rocking a Titan Z, but only until the R9 390x comes out.

I use my old 970 for toilet paper.

Every day you hold on to your 290x and 970 you are losing money on them.

Come the release of x390 and you will lose an even larger amount of money there.

By the sounds of it though, you are rolling in it anyway, so you don't mind.

My advice would be to sell the cards asap and move on in life

Lol Rolling in it.. Haha I wish. I buy and sell a lot of stuff on eBay etc. and look for good deals. My 290x I bought 12 of them from a local guy shutting down his mining machines and needed cash. I have the one left, my 970 I bought with selling those.

Your advice makes sense.. The sooner the better.

I was thinking about a 390x instead of my 980 but me owning a Rog swift monitor kind of limited me to the gtx. Unless I sold my Rog swift and bought a free sync..but I don't have that kind of $$ lol.

I'm using my GTX 970 for...gaming...as my GPU.

I did not buy into the outrage hype over 3.5GB -vs- 4 GB of vRAM. The card works fine and is geared toward 1440p gaming. 3.5GB is more than enough for that.

I made a custom BIOS and have it OCd rock solid stable at 1506/3802. It is stable at a good bit higher, but I always step down a bit for long term use.

As you mentioned buying a 980 is out of the question.. I actually had bought a 290x to replace the gtx 970, but due to a misunderstanding I had to return the 290x. At this point, I'm just holding out to see what happens with AMD's new line up. Waiting for the lawsuit to conclude is a bad idea as it could take years to do so.
