Hi guys, I was wondering if any of you could answer a query I have? I own a Phenom x4 965 which I have overclocked to 4Ghz. The specifications of the CPU claim it is 125w TDP, however when I open CPU-Z it states max TDP = 64.9w. It remains at that figure whether the CPU is idle or at 100% load. Is this just down to the board not supporting the CPU fully? Many thanks in advance for any replies.

Your motherboard doesn't officially support your processor. The closest is the Phenom II X4 945 with BIOS version 5002, and even then, it's only beta support. When you also take your overclock into account, it's only natural that there will be discrepencies.

update the BIOS with the up to date BIOS 5001,
thats the right board

the link bicycle repair man posted is not your exact model, but still true, that the 965 is not supported officially.

Thanks for your reply.
Fair do's, I was just wondering about the TDP was all, it doesn't seem to hinder performance from what I can tell. I just upgraded the chip from dual core to squeeze the last bit of life out the of the system before I upgrade to a brand new rig. Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply.
The link Bicycle repair man posted is indeed my board. I have the 5002 BIOS on which I believe is the most current. The chip is not officially supported as you say and required some tweaks to get the clock speed etc correct. The TDP was all that threw me out.

Thanks for the reply.
All four cores are registered in task manager, CPU is operating as it should performance wise I think. I have run ADA64 stress test and 3DMark11 without any issues.
