Hello. I am building a new PC. I have come up with the following specs. But I am in a fix between these two motherboards. FYI, I am rather partial to ASUS motherboards and I simply cannot increase my budget to include any better ones. I plan on OC-ing both my processor and graphics card (when needed). That's why I am planning to go for a 850W psu.

Processor - INTEL CORE i7-4790K
Processor Cooler - CM Nepton 240M
Motherboard - Asus Z97-K / Asus Z97-PRO GAMER
Ram - G.SKILL TRIDENTX 16GB DDR3-2400 (2x8GB)
PSU - Cooler Master V 850 Watt
SSD - INTEL 530 SERIES 120GB
Graphics Card - SAPPHIRE TRI-X R9 290 4GB
Casing - THERMALTAKE GS / MS-III

I know many will ask why I am going for the 4790K when the gains in gaming are nonexistent... see I don't plan on upgrading for at least another 6 years so that is why I think the i7 will be a better choice down the line.

Are any of my choices poor? I would truly appreciate any suggestions to my build choices... or any alternate brands of the components.

Thank you for your time!

CM V series are good. I think they're made by Seasonic. Point is, I think you have some wiggle room on the PSu to save a few bucks and maybe get the MAXIMUS VII HERO. Just a thought.

The MAXIMUS VII HERO is a great board. But would I need it if I never plan on going multi-gpu? I read on many websites that the AMD R9 290 cards have issues if the PSU isn't strong enough! That was my reasoning behind going for a large psu. Do you think that isn't the case?
