WiFi not working on laptop.

My WiFi will not turn on, the switch is even greyed out. When I go into device manager the wireless card does show up. I had purchased a new one because I had thought the card was dead, but this new one has the same issue, even after updating the drivers. I have even tried using Ubuntu but that has had no success. Any ideas?

Even ubuntu doesn't work? Wow. That's usually my first step for wifi woes. Maybe the slot is fried, who knows.

You know what I haven't tried Ubuntu with the new card so maybe that will work, but I just reset my bios and now I'm reinstalling Windows. But if neither of those works, is there anything else I could try?

I honestly don't know. I would just get some chinese external usb one. I'm not usually one to fiddle with internals of a laptop.

Okay that's what I thought I'd have to do, but I hope what I'm doing right now works because I don't really want to lose one of only two USB ports on the laptop haha

Okay, I just tried both Windows and Ubuntu with the new wireless card and both see the card there, but they don't pull up any WiFi.
