Wired connection gives a Strict NAT Type?

So currently our main router is downstairs, and so for upstairs I have set up another router to act as a repeater.

My game system is upstairs and so the connection it mainly gets is from the repeater router. The thing is, when I am on WiFi, the connection is perfectly fine and it is Open NAT Type, but once I connect an ethernet cable from that repeater router to the system, it becomes Strict NAT.

I don't understand why it becomes strict with a wired connection, but is Open with a wireless connection.

Does anyone know how I can also get the NAT Type to be Open as well with a wired connection through the repeater router?

"In order to get an Open/Type 1 or Moderate/Type 2 NAT type, you may also have to set up a Static IP Address on your console. "

The router that I am using as a repeater is the Linksys AC1600 and the main router I have downstairs which is the main router is the one AT&T provided for us with U-Verse. With the Linksys acting as a repeater, we have full signal upstairs now as well.

For some reason whenever I connect an ethernet it gives me a Strict NAT on my game system but on WiFi, it is Open NAT.

Actually I just found out something.

Even in WiFi, I notice my NAT changes from Open to Strict sometimes. I just never noticed it I guess. Since it keeps changing, do I have to assign it like a static IP or something?

I'm not that good at networking stuff.
