It all boils down to what you need. If you're a gamer, then a better GPU is probably more beneficiary; but if you want something for editing then CPU is probably as safer bet since GPU can give you only so much boost for that. My friend edited 4k with GTX 960 and GTX 980 and had no difference in performance what so ever.

Hi Simon,
Thanks for the reply, I'm a graphic designer and part time gamer and my next requirement would be video editing and 3d rendering...

Like I said. It really matters on who you are and what you like. Since you have an 8-core CPU I would just watercool and overclock it to save a bit of money; then I'd get a better GPU. If I wanted to go an extra mile I'd get myself another SSD and run it in RAID with the other one. Only after that I would think about getting a different CPU (or maybe upgrading physical memory, don't know how much you have but for editing I would suggest at least 16gb).

Yeah I'd definitely upgrade GPU Before CPU, and 16 gb of DDR 3 should be fine, unless you want to go fancy and try something with a higher clock speed. I ran into an article the other day that someone was able to overcklock the same CPU to 5 GHz, so watercooling might be a good upgrade for you. Also if you get a good all in one whatercooling setup it can be quieter than your stock cooler, which is always nice.
