Can i get 7.1 surround sound with my motherboard using astro a40 headsets.

I have almost no knowledge about surround sound and stuff like that, i got an asrock z97-e motherboard, and im getting astro a40 7.1 headset. I play alot of fps games, mostly cs go. So i was wondering am i able to get 7.1 surround sound, or do i need to buy a sound card?

You will get your 7.1 regardless the A40's come with an AMP that will assist the drivers in the headphones to provide the quality sound.

A sound card can help improve the sound but really it's not needed, but I would still recommend a nice one for later

Thank you for ur answer, in ur opinion is a40 good? or are there other headsets out there that are better?

Astro A40 are top notch!

I use Sennheiser PC360's ( the PC350's are similar to the A40s) less the amp.

IF Astro were available in my contry I would have bought myself the A50s a year ago because I love the look of them, love the sound, I have a friend with A40s, the weight of the A50s (because they are basically wireless A40s just heavier due to batteries would have been something to get use to) Sorry for all this background info, just trying to let you know that if I could I would own a pair myself :)

Thanks, appreciate the extra info. I was wondering if my motherboard can have a sound card, cause i cant see where to put one? asrock itx z97-e

ah.... well is there another way to increase the sound quality, ive ordered the a40 with a mix amp, will that be enough? im only gona play competitive games; cs go, so i want to be able to locate where the enemy is by sound.
